How can i get my almost 3 yr old to let go of the pacifier when my 8 month old has them everywhere?

Granted I didn't have an 8 month old around to "tease" my daughter when I did this. But my daughter LOVES babies, and one day I told her that her "mink" went away....he had to go be with the babies.. because they needed him (yes this had turned into a person this damn pacifier had)....but she understood, and what helped is we gathered all of her pacifiers and gave them to the baby room at her school. So maybe if your 3 year old understands that the pacifiers are for babies (including the one you have at home) then they will understand that they do not need it any longer...I told a friend of mine who has a 2 year old that this worked for me, and it also worked for her son....he was a little more aggitated of course because he didnt have that "motherly" instinct that little girls have to be sympathetic to the situation...but it still worked...so its worth a try :) Good luck!
