How could you repair the bucket container for the X-mas tree?

I just bought a X-mas tree and when I put the water in, it was leaking quite a bit of water. My tree is already decorated with ornaments. What can I do so the tree doesn't die on me? I don't want to take it apart and bring it back across town.
