Baby alligator Questions?

I just got a baby alligator he is about 7 inches long and i have some questions, does 70 degree water feel kindof coldish, and he is just floating with his face barely above the water to breathe just chillin is this normal. hes moving and everything so hes fine but sometimes he makes this noise in the bottom of his throat its kindof like a burp or a bellow or something is this normal ? thanks
