Do ferrets make good pets?

i am wondering about ferrets... i have a few animals including 2 dogs and a cat, they are fine with our other animals so that should not be a prob.???? i am only aloud to keep my pets in the basement, buts its walkout so it has all day lite. but do ferrets smell? do they take a lot of work to care for? do they make good pets, and do they bite? also what can you do with them, like what tricks? do they like to snuggle, are the affectionate? I would like a real ferret owner to answer thees questions pleas, or some one who has had experience. thx!
