Jehovah Witnesses, how do you explain..?

Since the Watchtower Society claims to be God's collective faithful slave that alone guides people in their understanding of scripture, and since the organization did not come into existence until the late nineteenth century, does this mean God had no true representatives on earth for many centuries? Does this mean God did not care whether people understood the bible for all those centuries?
